BlumShapiro to provide Thanksgiving meals to thousands in New Haven for 4th straight year

Connecticut CPA firmBlumShapiroannounced today that it will partner withChristian Community Action (CCA)for the fourth consecutive year to provide Thanksgiving Day meals to more than 2,000 families and seniors in New Haven.

TheBlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action is a community-wide, hands-on program that will collect non-perishable food items for distribution to families and seniors right before Thanksgiving Day. Financial contributions in support of the food collection campaign will also be accepted.

“The BlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action honors the spirit and traditions of the holiday by bringing people together to help others,” said John Zinno, BlumShapiro office managing partner, Shelton Office, in a statement. “BlumShapiro employees and our families look forward to partnering with other businesses, individuals, schools, churches and civic groups in this community wide effort to help other families have a festive, nutritious and fulfilling Thanksgiving day.”

“For four consecutive years, we have been grateful to BlumShapiro for leading our Thanksgiving Food Basket initiative,” stated Rev. Bonita Grubbs, Christian Community Action executive director. “We appreciate their commitment as well as that of our other community supporters who all play a vital role in this annual food drive.”

Earlier this year, BlumShapiro received the Business Champion Award from the MetroHartford Alliance and Hartford Business Journal for its work in the community, including the BlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action.  In 2013, the program received the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Award. 

The Food Basket Campaign for CCA will collect non-perishable food items and monetary contributions between now and November 16. To help companies in their collection efforts, BlumShapiro will provide collection boxes for donated non-perishable food items. Financial contributions to CCA will go towards the purchase of turkeys, additional non-perishable food items and other necessities for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving day meal. Any amount is appreciated.
