Bringing Firm Leadership to the Next Level

It's one thing to be a leader within your firm, however, it's quite another to also be a leader within your community. Two young professionals from the Virginia–based Beers + Cutler are well on their way to showcasing both skills.

Justin Paulson and Tania Wadhawan were accepted into programs within Leadership Fairfax, a nonprofit organization whose mission is educating, preparing and inspiring leaders to serve and strengthen Fairfax

County and the northern Virginia region. There are two programs offered – the Signature Program and the Emerging Leadership Institute of Leadership Fairfax – which Paulson and Wadhawan will be participating in respectively.

Paulson's program will span for 10 months and focus on community and skills development. Participants at the mid to senior levels will spend one day each month until June, engaging in an intensive study of issues affecting the quality of life in Fairfax

County and the region. Paulson is a director within the firm who advises CFOs, CIOs and other business executives on solving challenges for organizations in the financial services, professional services, government contracting, technology, media and communications industries. Justin Paulson

"The ability to give back to the community while, at the same time, enhance my professional skills is a unique experience unparalleled by other programs," Paulson said.

Wadhawen will join the Emerging Leadership Institute, which brings together approximately 35 to 40 young professionals from business, government and nonprofit organizations throughout northern Virginia.

The program, which started in October will focus on skill building, mentoring, community service projects, and service on a board of directors in a local nonprofit organization. The program meets monthly until its graduation in June.

"This is an exciting opportunity to get a deeper understanding of our community and how best to serve it," said Wadhawen, who is in Beers+Cutler government contract industry practice with more than six years of industry and consulting experience. "I am very much looking forward to the year ahead."
