CalCPA honors Long Beach partner with annual service award

The California Society of CPAs bestowed its 2011 Public Service Award on Blake Christian, a CPA and partner in the Long Beach, Calif. office of Southern California firm Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt.

Christian is also involved in the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and serves as 2011-12 president of the Long Island Beach Rotary Club, for which he was also named 2010-11 businessperson of the year.

CalCPA presents the award to a member who has demonstrated public service by participating in charitable, governmental or volunteer work.

Christian’s ideas and work with the Long Beach Chamber "led to improved job placement for unemployed workers and stimulated job growth" in the Long Beach area, said Pam Kelty, chair of the award selection committee, in a statement.

In addition to raising funds for the Long Beach Symphony’s outreach program to local schools, Christian is also active with Vision360, an organization of business people and pastors that help establish churches.
