Conn. CPAs' kickball tourney benefits local middle schooler

Representing a creative alternative to charitable donations, theConnecticut Society of CPAs(CTCPA) New and Young Professionals Group held their fifth annual charity kickball tournament at Norton Park on August 16th Featuring more than 130 players on 13 teams, the tournament was able to raise $2,600 for local student Lexi Charbonneau, a 12-year-old from Plainville diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta - a genetic bone disorder.

Players faced off in a morning of kickball on fields donated by the Plainville Recreation Department, followed by a lunch sponsored by CWPM. Additional sponsors included Fiondella, Milone & LaSaracina, J.S. McCarthy Printers, and Paychex.

Marcum LLP took home this year's title and trophy, defeating Fiondella, Milone & LaSaracina LLP in the championship round.

The Connecticut Society of CPAswas formed in 1908, with over 6,000 individuals currently participating in public practice, business and industry, government, and education. The Society advocates on behalf of the accounting profession, fosters a professional community among CPAs, and provides continuing education opportunities for CPAs in Connecticut.
