The Tax Course teaches professional tax prep skills and aims to help people who want to better understand their own taxes. And while enrolling in the class is not a guarantee of employment with H&R Block, more than 75 percent of graduates who participated in this scholarship program became tax professionals for H&R Block in tax season 2015.
The course offers a unique blended-learning approach for students, combining interactive discussion, one-on-one assistance and hands-on experience with tax preparation software and computer training. At some locations, bilingual classes are available and are taught in English and the instructor, or assistant, will be able to answer questions in Spanish as needed. Graduates receive H&R Block certification, a certificate of completion and qualifying continuing education hours.
"I am proud of my service as a captain in the Air Force and equally as proud to be part of H&R Block's ongoing partnership with our military," said Michael Belt, U.S. and International Military Business Director at H&R Block, in a statement. "Offering a full-ride scholarship for the Income Tax Course to military spouses is just one of the ways we do the right thing and show our appreciation to our nation's service members and their families. In addition to teaching them more about preparing their own taxes, this course will teach new skills they can take with them anywhere in the country and many locations worldwide."
Because of the mobile nature of military life, H&R Block provides a career opportunity that could allow military spouses the chance to relocate while still maintaining their careers with 10,000 offices nationwide near hundreds of military bases.
