The Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) announced this week that they're seeking minority college students to apply for theMary T. Washington Wylie Internship Preparation Program, which looks to help those interested in the accounting profession attain entry-level positions.
The program is held January 4-6, 2017 for up to 25 diverse students who are currently sophomores, juniors, or seniors interested in accounting. The program is funded by donations to the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois’ Mary T. Washington Wylie Opportunity Fund.
The program looks to place students in paid internships across Illinois and build their exposure to the profession resources, and mentors. All participants will also receive a $500 scholarship to help with educational costs.
“More than 80 percent of past participants ultimately accepted leadership, internship, or full-time positions," stated Kari Natale, director of the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois. "This program leaves students more motivated, confident, and prepared than they ever imagined. I hope everyone who learns about this program will encourage students to apply."
