MACPA is on the Ball with NYPN

Bowling ball, that is.

The Maryland Association of CPAs’ New Young Professionals Network hosted a bowling night recently and raised more than $1,000 to benefit the Maryland Food Bank.

Nearly 50 young CPAs and CPA candidates came together for the event and the overriding message from these young folks, according to Tom Hood, MACPA executive director, is that they want to give back to the community and make their profession stronger and better.

Hood, who was at the event, chatted with some of the participants about what it’s like to be a young professional today, what the “new” CPA exam is all about and what exactly it is they want from the accounting profession.

He gave a rundown in a blog post:

1)    Flexibility and work/life balance.

2)    Leadership.
3)    Giving back to the community.
4)    Being involved in the profession and making it stronger.
