Six South Carolina CPAs Receive Recognition for their Service

The South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants recently recognized six CPAs for their achievements in the profession and their communities in 2009 – one of which is a newly established Young CPA Award.

Amanda Colgate, who is under the age of 35, and a partner with Godshall & Colgate, received the Young CPA Award for displaying exceptional leadership qualities throughout the community – including being involved in the association’s Young CPAs Leadership Cabinet.

The other recipients’ names and their awards are as follows:

•    Robert Baldwin of Baldwin & Associates received the Service to the Profession Award, an award which pays tribute to a member whose public service, professional conduct, time and effort have contributed significantly to the advancement of the accounting profession.
•    Malynda Grimsley with the Hobbs Group received the President’s Award, which was given by the board president of SCACPA in recognition of her significant contributions to the association.
•    Roger Luttrell with Converse College was named the Outstanding Educator of the Year. This award recognizes a full-time accounting professor distinguished for excellence in the classroom, motivating students and educational innovation.
•    Larry Mack, chief operating officer of Haynsworth, Sinkler Boyd received the Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry award, which is based on the nominee’s business achievements, contributions to the growth and enhancement of the profession and public service involvement.
•    Alan Grismley, a partner with Derrick Stubbs and Stith, received the Public Service Award for dedicating at least six hours a week of community service.
