Staffing firm names top cities to find finance jobs

San Francisco is the best city to snag a finance job, according to a recent list from finance staffing provider Accounting Principals.

The list was developed from the internal data of Accounting Principals branches around the country, taking into account the volume of job openings in the past quarter.

San Francisco scored first because of its proximity to Silicon Valley, large venture capitalist community and having one of the highest concentrations of Fortune 500 companies in the Unites States. The growth of this technology sector has had a ripple effect, according to Accounting Principals, that has touched the financial sector.

Some of the most in-demand jobs for full-time employees in the area are: finance managers, assistant controllers, controllers and accounting managers.

Denver took second place on the list, due to the region’s booming oil and gas companies and growing manufacturing sector. With many financial services positions open in the area, employers are looking for certified professionals with CPAs, CTPs and MBAs.

"Many of the top candidates in these cities are now seeing multiple offers from multiple employers," said Accounting Principals Senior Vice President Janette Marx in a statement. "This presents a stark difference from the employment landscape just a year ago. Given that finance and accounting positions are not directly revenue-generating positions like sales, an uptick in demand for these professionals indicates that businesses are starting to grow again and they have increased confidence in the economy."
