University of Miami introduces online Master of Professional Accounting program

The University of Miami School of Business Administration announced on Monday that it will begin offering a new, online Master of Professional Accounting program, beginning in May 2015. The fully online program is designed for those with no prior accounting experience or coursework, and will prepare students for careers in corporate financial accounting, taxation, and management accounting.

The Master of Professional Accounting program will be the School of Business's second online program, behind the Master of Science in Finance program, which is set to begin in January 2015.

“The expansion of the School’s fully online programs illustrates our ongoing commitment to meet the evolving demands of working professionals seeking educational options that are rigorous, yet flexible,” said Gene Anderson, dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration, in a statement. “With its modular classes and flexible scheduling, the Master of Professional Accounting program will enable professionals to learn from the same world-class faculty who teach in our on-campus programs while earning their degree no matter where they live and work.”

Enrolled students will have the option of earning a Certificate in Accounting Practice alone or completing the certificate while earning the full master’s degree. Participants can begin the accounting program at the start of the spring, summer or fall semester and complete the program in about 16 months.
