Washington, D.C. (February 8, 2013)

By Daniel Hood

The Internal Revenue Service announced that it would begin accepting tax forms covering depreciation on Sunday, February 10, and forms covering education credits on Thursday, February 14.

The service will begin processing tax returns that contain Form 4562, Depreciation and Amortization on Sunday, and Form 8863, on Valentine’s Day.

“This step clears the way for almost all taxpayers to start filing their tax returns for 2012,” the IRS wrote in a statement. “These forms affected the largest groups of taxpayers who weren’t able to file following the January 30 opening of the 2013 tax season.”

Work continues on getting the IRS’s systems ready to handle the remaining tax forms that cannot yet be filed. It expects to be ready by the first week of March.
