The IRS is accepting applications through June 13 for its Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council.
IRSAC provides an organized public forum for service officials and public representatives to discuss federal tax administration issues. The council comprises up to 35 members appointed to three-year terms by the IRS commissioner.
Applications are being accepted for some seven appointments that begin in January. Nominations may come from individuals or organizations.
IRSAC members are drawn from substantially diverse backgrounds, including tax attorneys, CPAs, EAs, academia and the business community. Federally registered lobbyists cannot be members.
Nominations should describe and document the proposed member’s qualification for membership, including the applicant’s knowledge of Circuar 230 regulations and past or current affiliations, as well as dealings with the particular tax segment or segments of the community that the applicant wishes to represent.
