The IRS is requesting nominations for its Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee, a federal advisory committee that advises the service on various tax administration issues.
The IRPAC presents a report to the IRS commissioner at a public meeting each fall. Members are appointed to three-year terms, but terms are staggered so that approximately one-third of the committee membership changes each year.
Nominations are currently being accepted for up to eight appointments that will begin in January. The deadline for applications is June 2.
IRPAC members are drawn from diverse backgrounds and represent the taxpaying public, tax professional community, small and large businesses, colleges and universities, state tax administrations, banks, insurance companies and foreign financial institutions, as well as the software and payroll industries.
Anyone interested in becoming a member of IRPAC may self-nominate or be nominated by a professional organization. All nominees must complete an application.
