CALIFORNIA

Green Hasson Janks, Los Angeles, released a survey and whitepaper focused on the film industry, “The Evolution of Profit Participations,” which found that 67 percent of respondents see a decrease in domestic theatrical performances and 63 percent see premium video on demand delivery becoming a business model for mass audiences. The fifth annual paper was released at the firm’s annual Entertainment and Media Forum on October 25, and addresses how new deal structures, globalization, M&A and technology are disrupting the industry and how this impacts profit participants.

CANADA

W.L. Dueck & Co., Vancouver, Calgary, Richmond and Edmonton, entered into a collaboration agreement with Andersen Global, expanding the global association’s presence in Canada. Also adding to that presence is SdM Chartered Professional Accountants, Montreal, which formally joined Andersen Global as a member firm under the name Andersen Tax.

NEW JERSEY

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, has opened applications for the 2018 NJCPA scholarships, available to New Jersey high school seniors and accounting majors entering their fourth or fifth year of a New Jersey-based college. Applications are open until Dec. 8, 2017, for high school students and Jan. 5, 2018, for college students. (Read the full story.)

Grant Thornton opened a new Albany office, located at 66 South Pearl Street, Suite 1200. The office was designed to support growing staff and building relationships with the Albany community.

Sanders Thaler Viola & Katz is rebranding as Katz Viola Lebenhart & Mauro, effective November 1, and will also be moving to a larger, more modern office at 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite C, in Woodbury.
