Grant Thornton opens Albany office; NJCPA accepting applications for 2018 scholarships; and more news from CPA offices across the country.
Green Hasson Janks, Los Angeles, released a survey and whitepaper focused on the film industry, “The Evolution of Profit Participations,” which found that 67 percent of respondents see a decrease in domestic theatrical performances and 63 percent see premium video on demand delivery becoming a business model for mass audiences. The fifth annual paper was released at the firm’s annual Entertainment and Media Forum on October 25, and addresses how new deal structures, globalization, M&A and technology are disrupting the industry and how this impacts profit participants.

W.L. Dueck & Co., Vancouver, Calgary, Richmond and Edmonton, entered into a collaboration agreement with Andersen Global, expanding the global association’s presence in Canada. Also adding to that presence is SdM Chartered Professional Accountants, Montreal, which formally joined Andersen Global as a member firm under the name Andersen Tax.

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, has opened applications for the 2018 NJCPA scholarships, available to New Jersey high school seniors and accounting majors entering their fourth or fifth year of a New Jersey-based college. Marcum was named the best accounting firm for client service at HFMWeek’s U.S. Hedge Fund Services Awards 2017. The award was accepted by Beth Wiener, leader of Marcum’s alternative investment group, at an awards luncheon in New York on October 19.
