Blumshapiro, West Hartford, announced the Blumshapiro Foundation donated $55,000 this year to nonprofit organizations serving families and children. The donations were made to 25 qualified nonprofit family and children’s organizations throughout New England. Additionally, the Blumshapiro Foundation contributed approximately $25,000 toward scholarships, memorials and other employee initiatives in 2019.

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, opened a job site, NJCPA Launchpad, to connect accounting firms, businesses and organizations that have accounting internships available in New Jersey with students seeking internships. The NJCPA also awarded 10 aspiring CPAs with $750 each toward their CPA Exam fee costs. NEW YORK

IFAC offices
The International Federation of Accountants named its first-ever board that has a majority of female members, with five of the eight board members approved this year at IFAC’s annual council meeting being women. As a result, 12 of IFAC’s 23-member board are now women. Six of the eight board members approved are new to the board: Yeong Kyun Ahn of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Joan Curry of Chartered Accountants Ireland; Caroline Gardner of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy; Winnie Nyamute of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya; Fiona Wilkinson of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies; and Ismaila Zakari of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
