Blumshapiro, West Hartford, announced the Blumshapiro Foundation donated $55,000 this year to nonprofit organizations serving families and children. The donations were made to 25 qualified nonprofit family and children’s organizations throughout New England. Additionally, the Blumshapiro Foundation contributed approximately $25,000 toward scholarships, memorials and other employee initiatives in 2019.

ILLINOIS

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, Chicago, partnered with Tableau software to launch Advance Revenue Cycle Scan at Tableau Conference 2019 in Las Vegas. With ARC Scan, healthcare provider organizations can track operational trends and dig into the underlying financial performance opportunities. In other firm news, Baker Tilly announced a partnership with data privacy management software provider CENTRL to offer its Privacy360 integrated privacy program management platform.

THE NETHERLANDS

GRI, Amsterdam, added four new members to its board for three-year terms starting Jan. 1, 2020: Eelco van der Enden, partner, PwC, Netherlands; Jessica Fries, executive chair of A4S - Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability, UK; Lance Gokongwei, president and chief executive officer, JG Summit Holdings, Philippines; Jyrki Raina, global industrial relations expert, Finland. Additionally, Molly Harriss Olson, CEO of Fairtrade Australia and New Zealand, Australia, was re-elected for another term.

NEW JERSEY

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, opened a job site, NJCPA Launchpad, to connect accounting firms, businesses and organizations that have accounting internships available in New Jersey with students seeking internships. The NJCPA also awarded 10 aspiring CPAs with $750 each toward their CPA Exam fee costs. The winners of the inaugural CPA Exam Fee Lottery are: Nick Buzzeo, student at Georgian Court University; Nochum Fleischmann, student at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Lakewood; Roxana Gamarra, student at Rutgers Business School-Newark; Elizabeth Marshall, student at William Paterson University of New Jersey; Ermilie Moise, student at Rider University; Shlomo Obstfeld, accounting intern at Hirsch Oelbaum Bram Hanover & Lisker, CPAs; Paulina Paredes, accounting manager at Isolatek International; Moshe Rosenberg, student at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Lakewood; Aryeh Schecter, student at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Lakewood; and Jason Vazquez, student at Montclair State University.

The International Federation of Accountants named its first-ever board that has a majority of female members, with five of the eight board members approved this year at IFAC’s annual council meeting being women. As a result, 12 of IFAC’s 23-member board are now women. Six of the eight board members approved are new to the board: Yeong Kyun Ahn of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Joan Curry of Chartered Accountants Ireland; Caroline Gardner of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy; Winnie Nyamute of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya; Fiona Wilkinson of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies; and Ismaila Zakari of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Two members were reappointed for a second term: Tommye Barie of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and Idésio da Silva Coelho Jr. of the Instituto dos Auditores Independentes do Brasil and Conselho Federal de Contabilidade.
