Bloomberg Tax launches Controlled Calculations for multijurisdictional rule tracking

Bloomberg TA
Bloomberg Tax announced Controlled Calculations for Bloomberg Tax Workpapers, a new capability that replaces manual processes associated with maintaining formulas across jurisdictions with a governed calculation environment that provides system-maintained tax rules. They include general state apportionment rules, while allowing tax teams to customize calculations based on their specific business needs. Controlled Calculations, rather than working through spreadsheets, embeds system-maintained tax rules directly into the workflow with built-in auditability to provide visibility into overrides, adjustments and calculations throughout preparation and review. It also features Connected workflows across Bloomberg Tax Workpapers, Bloomberg Tax Research and Bloomberg Tax Provision.

Acculink CPA announces free IRS Notice Decoder

Outsourced accounting and tax solutions provider Acculink CPA has launched a free web-based IRS Notice Decoder for accounting firms and taxpayers. The tool reads an IRS or state tax notice and identifies what it means, the response deadline, amounts involved, available options and a draft response. It was built to reduce the time firms spend on initial notice triage while keeping the CPA responsible for reviewing the final guidance. Users copy the body of the letter into the box (being sure to remove Social Security numbers and other account numbers first); then the decoder translates the IRS's language into a short explanation of what's being said and why the notice was sent. Every response window is different, so the tool surfaces the date the user need to act by and the choices available. The decoder uses a provided draft response as a starting point, taking care to understand that it's a template, not a final filing, and should be verified against the client's records and the notice itself before sending anything to the IRS.

AuditDashboard releases Collaborative Scheduling

AuditDashboard
AuditDashboard, an accounting workflow solutions provider, introduced Collaborative Scheduling, which provides firms with a centralized view of engagement timelines, including fieldwork start and end dates, deliverable due dates, assigned team members, scheduling status and Provided By Client progress, all displayed together. Firms can adjust dates directly on the scheduling timeline, filter engagements and view scheduling activity across the firm. The solution aims to centralize and standardize milestones through a shared workflow in which firms propose and clients agree on expectations, months before fieldwork begins. Once fieldwork and deliverable due dates are agreed upon, the engagement flows into the PBC request process, connecting engagement planning with client readiness in a single experience. Collaborative Scheduling is built directly into AuditDashboard and can integrate with standalone scheduling and resourcing solutions. Customers don't have to import engagements or clients, recreate schedules or implement another system to get started because the engagements firms already have in AuditDashboard automatically kick off the collaborative scheduling workflow.

Expensify gives control over corporate cards at point of purchase

Expensify HQ
Expense and spend management solutions provider Expensify announced the introduction of Spend Rules, which give users ways to enforce spend and expense policies at the point of purchase. It is now available to businesses in 14 countries. Admins using the new spend rules can give each recurring SaaS tool its own virtual card, so a vendor can only ever charge what it should. If the card owner changes teams or leaves, the subscription keeps running, with no swapping cards and no missed payments. Companies can issue a virtual card for a single transaction like event registration or contractor payment, capped at an exact amount so it can't be charged twice. They can tie a card to a trip, project or temporary assignment so it stops working the moment that ends; limit a card to what someone actually buys, so for example an office manager can use it to buy office supplies, but not electronics; and restrict a card to approved currencies to cut down on unexpected or unauthorized charges. The Expensify Card, with attendant Spend Rules, is available to businesses in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Latvia, Lithuania and Gibraltar.

Travel and spend solutions provider Perk announced that users can now book and manage travel, submit expenses and create team events from Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants via its Model Context Protocol. This allows people to operate Perk's capacities via plain language requests. Travelers can make requests such as "find me a flight for my trip to London next month," "cancel my hotel booking," "submit all receipts and match to Boston trip" or "which events are coming up?" Managers and approvers can tell Perk's AI to "approve all expenses under $100 from my team," "show me all trips for my team this month," or "send any out-of-policy expense back." Finance teams and admins can enter commands such as "generate a travel report of all bookings in H1 and download it as csv file" or "what's our top spend category this quarter?" And event managers can send requests such as "set up the Q3 team offsite in Lisbon" or "send a Slack reminder to everyone who hasn't RSVP'd." In addition, Perk said it will eventually release an agent that will allow customers to access Perk's MCP connector directly inside Slack, without needing to set up a separate AI assistant. It works by treating Slack itself as another way to reach those same tools, using the same authentication and permissions customers already have in Perk. It will be available to Perk customers starting this September.
