The Maryland Association of CPAs hosted its annual CPA Day in Annapolis on Jan. 24, in which more than 200 CPAs came to the state capital to meet with legislators and discuss issues impacting the profession and their clients. MACPA also launched a new legislative resource center to track bills impacting the profession, available here.

NEW JERSEY

WithumSmith+Brown, Princeton, released its annual culture video (pictured), this year themed as a talent show but featuring the firm’s usual musical and dance numbers. In conjunction with the video premiere at the firm’s annual State of the Firm event, Withum also launched a new corporate website featuring modern designs and interactive tools. SAX, Clifton, hosted its second annual Founder’s Award ceremony on Jan. 24, celebrating the work of local nonprofits. Risk management broker Arthur Gallagher & Co. was the event’s community partner and author and business owner Todd Smith served as keynote speaker.

The New Jersey Society of CPAs announced the results of a survey that found 48 percent of the 1,058 responding CPAs said legalizing adult-use marijuana in New Jersey would help the economy, compared to 22 percent who said it would have no impact and 20 percent who said it would hurt the economy.
