CALIFORNIA

DELAWARE

The National Conference of CPA Practitioners' Delaware Valley Chapter announced its 40th anniversary Silver and Bronze Award Winners. Edward Caine was recognized as the Silver Winner, awarded to the chapter member who has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to NCCPAP and the CPA community; and Mary Bonawitz of Orwigsburg, PA, is being recognized as the Bronze Winner, awarded to the chapter member considered to be influential as a leader and mentor in the CPA community. The honorees, including a single Gold Award designee who will be recognized for a lifetime of outstanding service, will be recognized at a special event on Oct. 23, 2019 at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury, New York.

FLORIDA

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance will host its Women Who Count National Conference Oct. 21-23 in Orlando. The event, at the Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek, will feature 30 female professionals speaking on topics that include tax reform, accounting, auditing, information technology, communications and hiring talent. RSM, Chicago, announced the start of its second annual RSM Birdies Fore Love program for the start of the 2019-20 PGA tour season. Through the charitable program, the top three finishers in total birdies (or better) from all upcoming fall events earn $300,000, $150,000 and $50,000, respectively, for a charity of their choice, and the player who records the most birdies (or better) in each fall event will earn $50,000 for a charity of their choice, bringing the total to more than $1 million donated through this year’s program.

KANSAS

K-Coe Isom, Salina, joined the North America region of international association PrimeGlobal.

KUWAIT

Al Khebra, Kuwait City, signed a collaboration agreement with Andersen Global to become a member firm of the international association.

MARYLAND

MACPA

The Maryland Association of CPAs, Towson, announced 20 young professionals graduated from MACPA’s 2019 Leadership Academy (pictured), held Aug. 21-23 in conjunction with the Business Learning Institute. (Read the full story. )

KatzAbosch, Baltimore, was named a Best Accounting Firm by The Daily Record in its 2019 listing of Reader Rankings. In other firm news, KatzAbosch was included on the Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms list by Construction Executive, ranking No. 42.

MASSACHUSETTS

XCM, Quincy, announced it was named one of Boston’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For by the National Association for Business Resources, for the third consecutive year.

MICHIGAN

Rehmann, Troy, was named as one of Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For and one of Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies in Wellness for the 12th and third consecutive years, respectively.

MINNESOTA

CliftonLarsonAllen Wealth Advisors announced it has secured $15.5 million of equity capital funding for long-term recapitalization of the 100-suite Residence Inn located in downtown St. Paul. The property was developed by Kaeding Management Group and is the first Marriott to be located in St. Paul. In other firm news, CLA also secured $30 million in opportunity zone funding for a mixed-use development located in downtown St. Paul, for a project known as the Seven Corners Gateway development, located across the street from the Xcel Energy Center.

Moore Stephens North America, Eden Prairie, has rebranded to Moore North America, part of a larger rebrand of the Moore Stephens global accounting network that includes a new logo, visual identity and brand positioning.

NEVADA

The Advisory Board announced Michael Cain, president of LBMC Financial Services, and David Morgan, chairman of LBMC Financial Services, as the recipients of the 2020 Hall of Fame Award, given to individuals recognized as making significant contributions to the accounting profession. The award will be presented Jan. 22, 2020, at the Winning is Everything conference in Las Vegas.

NEW JERSEY

CohnReznick donated a total of $150,000 via funds the firm raised at the CohnReznick Foundation’s 28th annual Golf Invitational Sept. 3 at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City. The donations were given to the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation and Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

NORTH CAROLINA

The National Society of Accountants announced the election to NSA’s executive committee of Joel Grandon as president, Curtis Lee as first vice president and Marchelle Foshee as second vice president. The announcement was made at the annual meeting in Charlotte on Aug. 23.

OKLAHOMA

HoganTaylor, Tulsa, joined the North America region of international association PrimeGlobal.

PALESTINIAN TERRITORY

The Internal Revenue Service selected Darren Guillot as the Deputy Commissioner for Collection and Operations Support in the Small Business/Self-Employed Division, and De Lon Harris as the Deputy Commissioner for Examination.
