Baker Tilly launches philanthropic holiday ‘wishes’ program; RoseRyan and Michael Silver rebrand; and more news from CPA offices across the country.

CALIFORNIA

RoseRyan, Newark, announced a rebranding, unveiling a new logo, website, documents and other marketing materials, along with messaging that defines the firm as “a set of finance pros who know the pain points of fast-moving companies” and helps them “get into the fast lane.”

CANADA

RSM International launched RSM Canada in Toronto, with 37 partners and nearly 300 professionals, and Harry Blum, whose firm was most recently called Collins Barrow Toronto, serving as managing partner. (Read the full story.)

FLORIDA

BDO USA announced its existing Miami and Coral Gables offices will combine into one location at Miami Tower, effective Dec. 18. The new offices encompass more than 22,000 square feet on the 17th floor of the Miami Tower and hold 125 employees, with plans to add 35 staff in the near term.

ILLINOIS

Crowe Horwath, Chicago, was named to the Fortune Best Workplaces for Parents list, based on feedback of more than 443,250 parents and nonparents at “Great Place to Work-Certified” companies.

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, Chicago, is launching a Baker Tilly Wishes program this holiday season to engage team members in the firm’s philanthropic efforts. Beginning Dec. 5, the firm is providing staff with a gift card to give to their charity of choice, as well as bestowing $10,000 to three charitable causes; giving up to 40 hours of paid volunteering time for the nominating team member; and donating $10,000 through the program.

Michael Silver & Co., Skokie, launched a new brand and logo, refreshing firm messaging used since 1944. The new name is MichaelSilver, with branding colors in green and purple and a redesigned logo.

JAPAN

Suga & Associates, Tokyo, was admitted as a member firm of global association Morison KSi.

MARYLAND

Gross Mendelsohn & Associates, Baltimore, announced a merger with Gurman & Co., Fairfax, Va., the second northern Virginia merger completed by Gross Mendelsohn, and doubling the size of the firm’s existing Fairfax office, bringing the firm size to a total of 125 people. Gurman partner Paul Gurman joined Gross Mendelsohn along with 11 employees.

Weyrich, Cronin & Sorra, Lutherville, was awarded a 2017 Top Workplaces honor by The Baltimore Sun Media Group, based on an employee feedback survey administered by research firm Energage.

HeimLantz, Annapolis, held an open house Nov. 30 at its new Annapolis office, on Admiral Cochrane Drive. Roughly 100 people from the community attended the event, which included a tour, networking opportunities, and drinks and refreshments.

NEW JERSEY

WithumSmith+Brown hosted a ribbon-cutting event Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to mark its relocation to a new “office of the future” on two floors of the Class-A Tower Center Boulevard complex at 1 Tower Center Boulevard, 14th Floor, East Brunswick.

NEW YORK

CohnReznick, New York, conducted a global survey with Nexia International to assess the current state of cyber preparedness, gaining insight from more than 350 companies. Key findings included that: 46 percent of respondents across the Americas and 50 percent of respondents in EMEA do not have a formal cybersecurity program; 20 percent of respondents have not conducted a cybersecurity assessment; and 25 percent of respondents offer annual cybersecurity training. Skoda Minotti, Cleveland, was named to the Weatherhead 100, which recognizes Northeast Ohio’s fastest growing companies based on revenue from the past five years, for the 10th time and fourth consecutive year.

SWITZERLAND

Reviglobal SA, member firm of global association Andersen Global, joined the existing Andersen Tax team in Lugano, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
