M&A Watch: Two deals in Pa., one in Kansas

Adams Brown has acquired Kane, Mitchell & Co. in Kansas, while Isdaner & Co. is merging in fellow Pennsylvania firm RW Group in January 2021, and Top 100 Firm RKL is expanding westward in the state by combining with Rotz & Stonesifer.

KANSAS: Adams Brown adds Kane Mitchell

Details: Adams Brown has acquired Overland Park-based Kane, Mitchell & Co. LLC, effective Dec. 21.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but all eight of KMC's team members joined Adams Brown, with shareholder Curt Freking joining as a partner.

KMC was founded in 1996. It serves individuals and closely held and family-owned businesses and trusts. With $30.89 million in 2020 revenue, Adams Brown ranked among Accounting Today's top 15 Regional Leaders in the Midwest.

“The combining of our firms will benefit our clients, our team and the Kansas City community,” said Adams Brown managing partner Brian Staats in a statement. “Current KMC clients will gain access to additional specialized solutions while our team gains experienced accounting professionals with specialties similar to ours.”

PENNSYLVANIA: Isdaner acquires RW Group

Details: Isdaner & Co. LLC announced that it will acquire Kennett Square-based RW Group LLC, effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded by Richard Wortmann, RW Group serves a large number of sectors, including real estate, health care, nonprofits, investment advisors and cannabis businesses.

“The professionals at RW Group are a welcome addition to our team with their focus on quality control," said Isdaner & Co. managing member Scott Isdaner in a statement. "We are delighted to have RW Group join our firm.”

PENNSYLVANIA: RKL merges in Rotz & Stonesifer

Top 100 Firm RKL LLP announced that it would merge in Chambersburg-based Rotz & Stonesifer PC, effective Jan. 1, 2022, in a move that give it a presence in Franklin and Adams Counties, service clients in South Central Pennsylvania and Western Maryland.

“Rotz & Stonesifer has built a respected legacy of expertise and excellence in South Central Pennsylvania, and we are proud to unite under the RKL banner to continue this success,” said RKL CEO Ed Monborne in a statement. “This merger is an exciting opportunity to advance our firm’s strategic growth objectives and introduce RKL to new communities in South Central Pennsylvania and beyond.”

In October, RKL expanded its presence in the Lehigh Valley by merging in Stoudt Associates LLC.
