The firm will operate as CRI Government Solutions, a new member of the CRI Family of Companies.

"Trace Advisory has built a strong reputation for helping government contractors and public sector organizations navigate complex accounting, auditing and compliance requirements," Bill Carr, founding partner and chairman of CRI, said in a statement. "Their specialized knowledge is a natural fit for our firm. Adding CRI Government Solutions allows us to deepen our services for government clients and expand our offerings in this sector."

CRI is based in Enterprise, Alabama, and ranked No. 23 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $601 million in revenue, with 483 partners and over 2,700 employees across 41 offices. The firm received funding from Centerbridge Partners and Bessemer Partners in 2024.

"Our clients operate in highly regulated environments, but the stakes go well beyond compliance," Trey Breckenridge, principal at Trace Advisory, said in a statement. "The work we do is ultimately about accountability, responsible stewardship and helping our clients protect the public trust. As CRI Government Solutions, we advance that mission by combining our specialized, hands-on approach with CRI's national resources and broader capabilities to better serve our clients as their needs evolve."

CRI has completed several other M&A transactions in the past couple years. It acquired Crowl, Cameron & Associates in Texas in June, and CFO Hub in March, expanding its reach into California and strengthening its presence in New York, Austin and Washington, D.C. Last year, it added Williams Steinert Mask, entering the San Antonio market, as well as Regional Leader CapinCrouse in Indianapolis.
