On the move: American Accounting Association hires first diversity officer

SASB Investor Advisory Group appoints chair and vice chair; MACPA CEO announces retirement; and more CPA news.

BANGLADESH

ACE Advisory, Dhaka, joined international association Andersen Global.

CALIFORNIA

The Value Reporting Foundation, San Francisco, appointed to the SASB Investor Advisory Group: Richard Manley, managing director, head of sustainable investing at CPP Investments, to chair; and Carine Smith Ihenacho, chief governance and compliance officer at Norges Bank Investment Management, to vice chair.

Jeremy Wheeler and Hinesh Patel, partners at CNM, Woodland Hills, were tapped to lead strategic growth initiatives across all areas of the firm, with Wheeler leading firmwide geographic and service line expansion and Hinesh overseeing the firm’s growth in the New York market and the accounting transaction advisory business across the firm.

David Evans was hired as a partner and general counsel at HCVT, Los Angeles, after serving as the firm’s outside counsel for more than 20 years.

GEORGIA

Kim Hartstock, office managing member of the Atlanta office at Warren Averett, was selected as a "2022 Georgia Titan 100," recognizing Georgia’s top CEOs and C-level executives.

ILLINOIS

NEW YORK

CohnReznick, New York, was recognized by Global M&A Network as the "Transactions Advisor of the Year" during the 13th Annual Americas M&A Atlas Awards celebrations, as well as receiving awards for "U.S.A. Private Equity Deal of the Year – Middle Markets" and "Health Care Deal of the Year."

NORTH CAROLINA

Gary Setterberg was hired as a managing director in the human capital services practice at Grant Thornton, Charlotte.

PENNSYLVANIA

Irfan Dossani, partner-in-charge of Whitley Penn WP Edge, joined the Information Technology Alliance Client Accounting Services Committee. In other firm news, Whitley Penn was named to the University of Houston’s "Cougar 100 List" for the seventh year, ranking No. 53 on the list that identifies, recognizes, and celebrates the world’s fastest University of Houston Cougar-owned and Cougar-led businesses.

UNITED KINGDOM

MGI Worldwide, London, announced it has become the first global accounting network to be awarded the ESGmark certification, awarded to organizations that demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance credentials and an ongoing commitment to positive change.

Tendai White is resigning from her position as executive director at INPACT EMEA-CSA & AP, London, effective March 10, where she has worked since 2007. Current operations manager Daniel Perex was named the new executive director of the EMEA-CSA & AP regions, having worked with INPACT since 2011.

VIRGINIA

The Virginia Society of CPAs, Richmond, partnered with seven states to offer a virtual event on International Women’s Day on March 8, featuring life coach and media contributor Deborah Porter, founder of Moms Mentoring Circle. The event is part of the VSCPA’s Women’s Leadership Series designed to inspire female empowerment in the CPA profession, and is in partnership with the Colorado Society of CPAs, Florida Institute of CPAs, Society of Louisiana CPAs, Maryland Association of CPAs, Minnesota Society of CPAs, New Jersey Society of CPAs, and Washington Association of CPAs.
