Grant Thornton and Moss Adams elect next CEOs; Henry+Horne participates in 9/11 memorial tribute; and more CPA news.

ARIZONA

Henry+Horne, Tempe, participated in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, along with friends and family. The group climbed more than 2,000 stairs in Salt River Field stadium, the equivalent of the two towers’ 110 stories, with each participant carrying the name and picture of one of the victims during their climb. In its fifth year, the climb is hosted by the Salt River Indian Community Fire Department and this year raised $85,000 for programs provided by the NFFF to support the families of local fallen firefighters and the FDNY Counseling Services Unit.

BPM, San Francisco, was selected as a Sage Intacct VAR Partner of the Quarter by Sage, acknowledging its outstanding efforts in implementing the Sage Intacct cloud-based accounting and financial management platform for clients.

California State University Fullerton’s Department of Accounting announced it has attained school status, making its School of Accountancy one of only four in the state. (Read the full story.)

Rashada Whitehead was promoted to the newly created role of national managing director of culture, immersion and inclusion at Grant Thornton, Chicago, where she has worked since 2019. She will also join Grant Thornton’s national leadership team, be responsible for the firm’s NLT diversity, equity & inclusion task force, and continue in her role as head of colleague experience, people & community. Carter Heim, founder of HeimLantz, Annapolis, and current business consultant, tax advisor and executive business coach, will be inducted into the Business Hall of Fame by the Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce on October 14, 2021. Heim started his accounting career in 1975 and founded Heim & Associates, the predecessor of HeimLantz, in 1995.

MASSACHUSETTS

Dark Horse CPAs, Boston, joined the partner ecosystem of Botkeeper, offering the bookkeeping solution’s AI and ML enablement tools to clients.

CFGI, Boston, announced that funds advised by CVC Capital Partners have agreed to acquire a significant interest in the company, valuing non-audit accounting advisory firm CFGI at approximately $1.85 billion. All existing shareholders are reinvesting in the transaction in partnership with CVC, including funds managed by global investment firm Carlyle, co-founders and Co-CEOs Nick Nardone and Shane Caiazzo, and the partners of CFGI.
