Deloitte Tax announced the winners of its 2024 Deloitte FanTAXtic competition, which challenges university students to tackle a complex business tax case. This year's case asked students to provide advice on structuring a new business, encompassing guidance on tax matters such as depreciation, recognizing income and determining a specific business income deduction. The national finals were held at Deloitte University, in Westlake, Texas, Jan. 19-21, and included 16 teams from schools across the country. The team from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, took first place; the Florida State University team took second; and the team from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, took third.
