On the move: KPMG names new global head of public affairs

KPMG International named Dan Konigsburg its new global head of public affairs. Plus, Deloitte Tax held its annual tax competition for university students, and promotions were announced at Kassouf, CohnReznick, KSM, Johnson Lambert and other firms across the country.

ALABAMA

Ashley Hudson and Bridget O'Neal were promoted to manager at Kassouf, Birmingham, while Margaret Novak was promoted to supervising senior and Max Archer to senior. In addition, Anna Mooney returned to the firm as a manager in the estate planning and administration group, while Mike Payne was named the firm's first business advisor.

ILLINOIS

Janice Vanover, Margaret Hacus and Teresa Ippolito were promoted to principal at Friedman + Huey, Frankfort.

Julia Duquette was hired as an audit partner in the federal audit practice at Sikich, Chicago. 

Jeff Brandt was named CEO of Xamin, Lincolnshire, a subsidiary of Mowery & Schoenfeld, succeeding Xamin founder Jonathan Smith.

Deloitte Tax announced the winners of its 2024 Deloitte FanTAXtic competition, which challenges university students to tackle a complex business tax case. This year's case asked students to provide advice on structuring a new business, encompassing guidance on tax matters such as depreciation, recognizing income and determining a specific business income deduction. The national finals were held at Deloitte University, in Westlake, Texas, Jan. 19-21, and included 16 teams from schools across the country. The team from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, took first place; the Florida State University team took second; and  the team from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, took third.
