On the move: NJCPA names next president

Baker Tilly appoints first head of learning development; Henry+Horne adds two to the partnership as one partner retires; and more CPA news.

ALABAMA

Justin Clark was hired as a principal in the Auburn/Opelika office and Susan Barnes as a senior manager in the Montgomery office at Jackson Thornton.

ARIZONA

Tiffany McBride and Steve Pope were added to the partnership at Henry+Horne, Tempe, where they have both worked since 2016. In other firm news, partner Candace Berg Tooke has retired from the firm after 23 years.

CALIFORNIA

Karine Philippon was appointed as the new office managing partner in Los Angeles at Mazars, where she has worked since 2004.

CONNECTICUT

Susan Martinelli

Susan Martinelli, managing partner of the Hartford office of RSM US, was honored with the 2022 Jack Brooks Leadership Award by the Connecticut Society of CPAs.

GEORGIA

Prime Tax has become Andersen in Georgia after joining Andersen Global, and MG Law, Tbilisi, also joined the international association.

ILLINOIS

Francesca Ranieri was appointed to the new role of head of learning development at Baker Tilly US, Chicago, where she will oversee the strategy and development of the firm’s learning enterprise with a special focus on creating a personalized user experience for team members. In other firm news, Baker Tilly admitted its largest ever class of 46 new partners (the list is available here).

MISSOURI

BKD CPAs & Advisors, Springfield, and Dixon Hughes Goodman completed their previously announced megamerger, rebranding as Forvis and launching Forvis Wealth Advisors, a combination of BKD Wealth Advisors and DHG Wealth Advisors. (Read the full story.)

NEW JERSEY

Kathleen Powers

Kathleen Powers, CFO at The Matheny Medical and Educational Center of Peapack, was named president of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, for the 2022-23 term.

James Toto was hired as a partner in the private client practice at Sax, Parsippany.

NEW YORK

Steve Economou

Steve Economou was hired as a principal in the forensic, litigation and valuation services group at Grassi, New York.

Joshua Lerner was hired as a partner in the executive compensation group and tax department at Morrison Foerster, New York.

Tom Seidenstein was reappointed as the chair of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, which he has chaired since July 2019, for another three-year term beginning July 1, 2022.

OHIO

Will Hill, most recently senior product marketing manager at Thomson Reuters, announced the launch of his new business, Will Hill Consults.

Kim Palmer and Hannah Prengler, tax partners at Cohen & Co., were appointed to serve on American Institute of CPAs panels, the Partnership Taxation Technical Resource Panel and the State and Local Taxation Technical Resource Panel, respectively.

Aimee Massey

Aimee Massey was named the first chief operating officer at Alexander Thompson Arnold, Jackson.

TEXAS

Bill Wilson

Bill Wilson, tax director, and Julie Quaranta, tax senior manager, at Whitley Penn, Fort Worth, were nominated to join the Texas Society of CPAs’ Federal Tax Policy Committee.

VIRGINIA
