ARGENTINA

MODO Law and GSRC, Argentina, will now operate under the brand Andersen, joining the member firms of Andersen Global in Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Uruguay, which previously operated under the brands Andersen Tax and Andersen Tax & Legal, now also adopting the Andersen name.

Laszlo Grace Pty Ltd., Caboolture, joined global alliance INPACT.

George Batalis

George Batalis was hired as managing director of health care consulting in the health care resources group at Katz, Sapper & Miller, Tampa Bay.

Mauldin & Jenkins, Atlanta, appointed five new firm partners: Lacey Heath (pictured) in Birmingham, Alabama; Brandon Smith and Ross Cannon in Atlanta; Hope Pendergrass in Macon, Georgia; and Jameson Miller in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

ILLINOIS

Kirk Waldrop was hired as a managing director in the operations transformation practice within advisory services at Grant Thornton, Chicago. In other firm news, Grant Thornton announced a commitment to expand its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts (read the full story) and, separately, released its 2020 CFO Survey.

Crowe, Chicago, released a new report, “Crowe Business Challenges Survey: Part I,” which found 72 percent of C-suite executives foresee a moderate or severe decrease in their 2020 revenue. The full report is available here.

Kevin Voigt was named managing partner of the Detroit and Grand Rapids offices of KPMG, effective Oct. 1. Voigt is also the national service line leader for the tax economic and valuation services practice.

Tom Watson

Tom Watson (pictured) was named the next CEO of BKD CPAs & Advisors, effective June 1, 2021. Watson, who was selected after a six-month process implemented by the firm’s governing board, will succeed Ted Dickman, who is retiring May 31, 2021. Watson was previously regional managing partner for BKD’s south region and managing partner for BKD’s Dallas/Fort Worth/Waco practice.

NEW JERSEY

Michael Montanez was selected as the new special agent in charge for IRS-Criminal Investigation in New Jersey, becoming one of 21 special agents in charge across the country.

Valeria Galarza and Ann Marie Liotta were named to the Community Foundation of South Jersey, Haddonfield.

Kal Barson, founder of the Barson Group, Somerville, released a new book, “The Unauthorized Autobiography & Musings of Perucke Hintern; A Once & Never King.”
