People on the move: New MP takes helm at Mauldin & Jenkins

Elliott Davis adds eight shareholders in four offices; OUM & Co. promotes 12; and other recent hires, promotions and personnel news from firms across the country.

CALIFORNIA

OUM & Co., San Francisco, promoted 12 people: Nathan Chu to tax supervisor; Maggie Lee to tax senior manager; Erin Diamond, Mark Manago and Elliot Shih to tax seniors; Brandon Yip to audit senior manager; and Johnson Nguyen, Thomas Orosco, Marie Turner, Isabelle Wee, Janine Wong and Carolyn Yu to audit seniors.

Andres Botero was hired as chief marketing officer at BlackLine, Los Angeles.

FLORIDA

Clinton Smith was promoted to principal at HBK CPAs & Consultants, Sarasota.

GEORGIA

Hanson Borders (pictured), recently Birmingham office partner-in-charge and financial institutions group leader, transitioned into his new role as managing partner at Mauldin & Jenkins, Atlanta, where he has worked since 1989. In 2017, he was elected managing partner of the firm, effective Sept. 1, 2018. In other firm news, Mauldin & Jenkins appointed five new partners: Heather Batson in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Nicole Cunningham in Birmingham, Alabama; Derrick Cowart in Savannah, Georgia; Michael Gordon in Atlanta; and Tim Lyons in Columbia, S.C.

ILLINOIS

Jodi Mersinger was hired as a tax director at Cendrowski Corporate Advisors, Chicago.

KANSAS

Esmeralda Quintanar was promoted to associate at Lewis, Hooper & Dick, Garden City.

KENTUCKY

Gui Cozzi was hired as practice lead of cybersecurity at Dean Dorton Technology, Lexington. The new practice includes expertise in cybersecurity and risk-based programs, along with enhanced service offerings.

NEW JERSEY

Cyber-liability specialist John Raspante was hired as a consultant at Whitman Business Advisors, Monmouth County. He brings over 35 years of experience in the accounting and business advisory profession, including stints as director of risk management for the CPA Protector Plan division of Brown & Brown, and at NAPLIA and Camico.

NEW YORK

Marcum, New York, promoted six associates to partner: John Hughes in New York; Michael Brady in Philadelphia (pictured); Cesar Estrada in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; James Miller in New Haven, Connecticut; Karen O’Connor in Melville, New York; and Bradford Taylor in Boston.

NORTH CAROLINA

Ben Romeiser and Marshall Stein were promoted to shareholder at Elliott Davis, Raleigh.

PENNSYLVANIA

Boyer & Ritter, Camp Hill, hired Vishnu Patel as a tax associate, and six new accounting associates: Kelly Bender, Stephen Baier, Jacqueline Hauck, John Carlos Rebimbas Tavares, Nicholas Rumberger and Erica West (pictured).

Kevin Kline was hired as a member of the Camp Hill office of Smith Elliott Kearns & Co.

Laurie Peer was named president of RKL Wealth Management, a subsidiary of RKL, succeeding Sarah Young Fisher, who has led the firm since 2005 and assumed the role of president emeritus. Peer joined RKL in 1992 and previously served as executive vice present and partner.

Brittany Taylor, Brian Mallette and Tom Taranto were named principals at HBKS Wealth Advisors, Erie.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Denise Bailey, Jeremy Migliara and Thomas Self were promoted to shareholder at Elliott Davis, Greenville.

TENNESSEE

Shelton Chambers and Eric Myers were promoted to shareholders in the Chattanooga office, and Michael Koupal was promoted to shareholder in the Nashville office, of Elliott Davis.

TEXAS

Robert Allen was hired as managing director in the forensic, litigation and valuation group in the Fort Worth office of Whitley Penn, rejoining the firm and department where he previously worked from 2002 to 2008.
