BerganKDV announced the election and re-election of its 2019-20 board members: Becky Morgan (pictured) was elected to serve another three-year term; Loren Viere finished a one-year transition term and the seat will be filled for a three-year term by Gene Garrelts; and other shareholders on the board are: Russ Sand, Dave Richter, Matt Mayer, Earl Edeburn and Dan Roling. The board also announced its officers, electing: Becky Morgan as board chair, Earl Edeburn as vice chair, Matt Mayer as secretary, and Dan Roling as treasurer.

MARYLAND

David Rosen, chair of the tax department at Rosen, Sapperstein & Friedlander, Towson, announced the release of his guide to the opportunity zone program, “The Book on Qualified Opportunity Zones.”

Joe Feehan was hired as a tax partner in the Boston office of Blumshapiro.

The firm promoted, in Greensboro: Shirley Weigel to chief operating officer; Caren Rodriguez to chief marketing officer; Alicia Williams to chief HR officer; and Keith Jarmusch to senior manager; in Durham: Jeff Marko and Drew Steel to senior managers; and in Sanford, Drew Haddock to senior manager.

Gary Berger was hired as a partner and assurance, financial services industry leader, Northeast region, and Joshua Blumenthal was hired as a partner, assurance, at CohnReznick, New York.

Dr. Stavros Thomadakis was appointed IESBA chairman for a further one-year renewable term commencing in January 2020, after approval from the Public Interest Oversight Board. Thomadakis has chaired the IESBA since 2015.
