Carr, Riggs & Ingram Merges in Roth Murphy Sanford

Southeast regional accounting firm Carr Riggs & Ingram has combined with New Orleans-based Roth Murphy Sanford, expanding CRI’s footprint to six states.

RMS will now operate under the name of Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC. CRI’s employee roster of more than 550 professionals includes over 100 partners. Roth Murphy Sanford will be contributing nearly 20 staff members to CRI, along with two partners, Louis Murphy and Mahlon Sanford. Sanford will be partner-in-charge at the New Orleans office. The merger took effect Dec. 11.

“Entering the dynamic New Orleans market through this merger follows our firm’s strategic growth strategy and offers our clients additional value in a number of new specialty areas,” said CRI chairman and managing partner William H. Carr in a statement.

CRI is based in Enterprise, Ala., and is ranked as the fourth largest accounting firm in the Southeast and 34th largest nationally by Accounting Today. Besides the offices in Alabama and now Louisiana, CRI also has offices in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Tennessee, and plans future expansion.

The combination with Roth Murphy Sanford brings a number of specialties to the firm, including oil and gas taxation and high-net-worth planning. Roth Murphy services industries such as construction, manufacturing, professional services, not-for-profit organizations and financial institutions.
