Grant Thornton said Monday the firm has acquired Computer Technology Associates’ Health Solutions division and, in a separate announcement, has also launched a Japan Business Group.
The Computer Technology Associates deal will give the firm five military health care contracts and the health care professionals who have supported them at CTA. Stephen Casey, the former executive vice president of CTA’s Health Solutions division, will join Grant Thornton, along with a team of specialists in the field. Casey has 10 years of program management experience within the military health system and 29 years of experience overall in health care and related technology.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen the firm’s Global Public Sector practice and Grant Thornton’s ability to service commercial, civilian and military health organizations.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Grant Thornton ranked sixth on Accounting Today’s list of the Top 100 Firms, with $1.38 billion in annual revenue.
Separately, Grant Thornton said Monday that the firm has launched a Japan Business Group that will focus on serving Japanese inbound companies in the United States.
The new group, led by international client services director Kumiko Watanabe, will assist Japanese companies with structuring investments in the U.S. and provide audit, tax and advisory services to existing Japanese inbound companies. The Japanese Business Group will initially focus on manufacturing and technology business sectors in the middle market. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Watanabe served as a director with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago, where she provided tax services to many Japanese inbound clients.
