Accounting Firm AMD Merges in Barnes Sports Group

The Sports, Arts and Entertainment Group of St. Louis accounting and business consulting firm Anders Minkler & Diehl and Festus, Mo.-based Barnes Sports Group have officially merged after a year of working together as affiliated entities.

Since its 1965 founding, AMD has advised Major League Baseball and National Football League players, coaches, musicians, writers and related team executives on tax, cash flow and financial planning. Barnes Sports Group has represented athletes, artists and authors in their marketing and promotions.

The merged group will continue to operate under the AMD Sports, Arts & Entertainment Group name, as a provider of multistate tax planning, contract analysis and evaluation, royalties management and audit, and business consulting services to athletes, artists and entertainers, as well as their agents, financial advisors and lawyers.

“The affiliation was definitely a win-win for both groups,” said Robert J. Minkler, Jr., managing partner of AMD, in a statement. “We found that both of our client bases benefitted from the single source model and that it is attractive to new clients, as well. It exceeded expectations and that success prompted the merging of Barnes Sports Group into AMD.”

The AMD Sports, Arts & Entertainment Group’s leadership includes tax practice partner Douglas D. Mueller, CPA/PFS, tax practice principal Lorri A. Rippelmeyer, CPA, and director Michael D. Barnes, JD, who will move his offices to join AMD’s 100 professionals and staff members downtown.

“This new group is unique to the marketplace,” said Barnes in a statement. “We bring key tax, endorsement and consulting expertise together under a CPA firm umbrella. Doug, Lorri and I, along with a talented team, can provide combined services that you just can’t find in one place in St. Louis or in most places across the country.”
