The Platt Consulting Group, operated by principals Michael and Kelly Platt, founders of online news portal AccountingWeb, have acquired monthly newsletter Inside Public Accounting from Atlanta-based publisher Hudson Sawyer.Terms were not disclosed.
Platt Consulting Group vice president Kelly Platt will serve as IPA publisher. She told WebCPA that IPA founder and publisher Martha Sawyer would begin "downsizing" and assume more consulting roles, and that IPA executive editor Julie Lindy will remain in that post under the new ownership.
"We began talking with Martha about five or six months ago and now here we are," said Kelly Platt. "Martha has put a lot of effort into this and has a great reputation, so we're excited about being able to carry it on."
Inside Public Accounting was founded in 1987 and was then known as Bowman's Accounting Report. It was renamed IPA in 2004.
In addition to co-founding AccountingWeb, Michael Platt served as President of Associated Accounting Firms International and Moore Stephens North America.
