Financial planning and reporting technology provider Adaptive Planning introduced on Monday its Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 Releases, which feature new reporting capabilities, SaaS and enterprise collaboration features.

The new releases include enhanced reporting, specifically transaction reporting and analysis, integration with more customer relationship management and general ledger systems, and the ability to pull transaction-level details into a central database and create reports. The previous release only had the ability to handle summary-level details.

Adaptive Planning has also added the ability to perform in-report calculations, in any column or row of a spreadsheet, according to Adaptive Planning president and founder Robert Hull.

“The Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 releases continue to build upon the significant investments we have been making over the last several years in the financial reporting and analysis capabilities, resulting in the industry’s most sophisticated—and intuitive—on-demand financial reporting solution,” said Hull. “What’s more, these releases illustrate the fact that our customers can automatically access new features on a quarterly basis, underscoring the tremendous value that the SaaS model delivers to companies of all sizes.”

Meanwhile, Adaptive Planning has hired John Herr as the company’s new chief executive officer. Herr has served in a variety of SaaS and Internet companies, including eBay, PayPal,, and EZ Shield, as well as held senior leadership roles at Softbank, Ziff Davis Media, Bain & Company, and Johnson & Johnson. Hull remains president, but now has the added roles of product development and customer support.

Other product enhancements include a document repository, which provides new collaboration options by establishing a centralized location for storing and sharing documents (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, or PDF files) related to budgeting, forecasting and other corporate performance management activities. A new status board enables users to see who else is logged into the application, and how recently a user has performed an action. There are also expanded formula-writing capabilities and improved security with more password management options.

The Fall 2011 features are available now, and the Winter 2012 features will be available in Q1 2012. For more information, visit
