AICPA, CIMA and Oracle team up to address tech skill gap

The American Institute of CPAs and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, via their joint Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, have partnered with tech giant Oracle to launch an Agile Finance Transformation Certification Series to offer education on the latest finance technology, processes, best practices and skills.

The program comes in response to a perceived technology skills gap among business professionals. While the business world continues to face disruption from technology, only a minority of accounting professionals have the skills needed to support an organization's digital transformation process, according to the organizations.

The course materials include:

  • Practical guidance on the steps in the finance transformation journey;
  • Best practices and related operational blueprints;
  • New skills that support and accelerate career development; and,
  • Real-world insights from Oracle finance leaders based on their own finance transformation.

“The digital age provides new opportunities for the accounting and finance profession,” said Tom Hood, the association's executive vice president of business engagement and growth, in a statement. “To keep pace with digital transformation and changing expectations from business, finance professionals must evolve quickly and acquire new skills. To meet this demand, the association partnered with Oracle to collaborate and develop the Agile Finance Transformation Certification Series to train finance professionals with practical knowledge and prepare for — and accelerate — their digital finance transformation.”
The course is now available through the AICPA Store. The three-part certification can yield 21.5 CPE credits at a total cost of $1,485 for non-AICPA or CIMA members and $1,195 for members.
