AICPA names 2018 Two-Year Transfer Scholarship recipients

The American Institute of CPAs has announced the recipients of its 2018 Two-Year Transfer Scholarship Award, given to top students transferring from a two-year college to a four-year college or university to finish their accounting degrees.

This year, 24 students will receive $5,000 each to go toward their accounting tuition.

“For many students, community college is a pathway to the accounting profession,” stated Joanne Fiore, vice president of professional media, academic and student engagement at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. “The Two-Year Transfer Scholarship award recognizes promising students who aspire to join the profession and helps them in the process by providing resources and guidance as they work toward becoming a CPA.”

To qualify for the Two-Year Transfer Scholarship, students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and intend to major in accounting or a related subject at their four-year school. A task force consisting of AICPA Student Recruitment Committee members and CPA volunteers select recipients based on their academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, volunteer efforts and commitment to becoming a CPA. Scholarship recipients also become Student Affiliate Members of the AICPA.
