Albany, N.Y., Firms Combine

Dembo, Freedman & Shutt, CPAs PC has agreed to merge with Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte.

“This continues TBC’s strategy of growing organically and through acquisitions,” TBC’s managing partner Robert Kind said in a statement. “It is the firm’s ninth acquisition since it was founded in 1971. TBC will benefit with additional clients, particularly family owned businesses and individuals."

Dembo, Freedman & Shutt, founded in 1981, operated under two shareholding partners in Donald Shutt and George Cefferillo, Jr.

Shutt has over 51 years of experience in the accounting profession and is a founding partner of Dembo, Freedman & Shutt. Cefferillo has over 30 years of public accounting experience. Both will join TBC’s team of partners.

“As we transition our clients to TBC, we feel that this new venture will enable us to provide expanded benefits and excellent resources to our loyal patrons,” Shutt said in a statement. “Ultimately, this will allow our clients to benefit from an even larger selection of services.”

“When we were evaluating the benefits of joining TBC, a couple of things stood out to us about the firm’s culture and philosophy," he added. "It became evident to us that TBC’s mission focuses on being responsive to clients, treating employees fairly and giving back to the community – all of these qualities and more made this firm an ideal choice for us to partner with at this time."
