Applicants Sought for IRS Tax-Exempt Advisory Committee

The IRS is looking for applicants for vacancies on its Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities, which provides a venue for public input on relevant areas of tax administration.

There are vacancies in the following customer segments: federal, state and local governments; Indian tribal governments; and employment tax knowledge and experience within one or more areas of exempt organizations, employee plans, Indian tribal governments, tax exempt bonds or federal, state and local governments.

Members are appointed by the Department of the Treasury and serve three-year terms. New members will begin terms in June. Applications will be accepted through September 26.

Applications “should reflect the proposed member’s qualifications,” according to the IRS. Members of the ACT may not be federally registered lobbyists. A notice in the Federal Register dated August 25 contains more details about the ACT and the application process.

Applications should faxed to (888) 269-7419. If you need an alternative way to send the applications and nominations, call (202) 317-8798. Late or incomplete applications will not be processed.
