Aspen Gets Andersen's ARM

     

New York (Sept. 24, 2002) -- Aspen Publishers announced Monday that it has purchased Accounting Research Manager from Arthur Andersen further positions Aspen, expanding its line of Web-based content for the accounting and audit market.ARM has a large and comprehensive online database of analytical accounting and auditing information as well as primary source data from accounting regulators and standards boards. It will become part of Aspen Publishers, New York, NY, a Wolters Kluwer company, which also owns CCH. Approximately 16 Andersen accounting experts joining Aspen as part of the acquisition will remain based in Chicago.

ARM was first developed by Arthur Andersen to support the research needs of its own staff, providing these individuals with access to the most up-to-date information on accounting standards, company law and other reporting guidance. Access to the knowledge database was later granted to Andersen clients and a limited number of other large companies and government agencies.

Aspen's initial focus will be on supporting the more than 1,000 current commercial ARM subscribers, with the intention to make the product available to additional companies as well as midsize and large accounting and audit firms that could benefit from this level of analytical information and expertise.
