Audit Standards Board Seeks New Leader

The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board is looking for a new chairperson.

The standards-setting board, which operates under the auspices of the International Federation of Accountants, said the new chairperson would take over for a three-year term starting on Jan. 1, 2009. The IFAC board appoints the chair with the approval of the Public Interest Oversight Board.

The chair will provide leadership in implementing the IAASB's strategy, promoting its International Standards on Auditing and helping develop them. The person selected will also lead meetings and debates, and maintain relationships with national and international regulators. The chair serves as the IAASB's liaison with the IFAC board, committees and the PIOB.

Candidates should have significant senior-level experience and recognition within the accounting profession. Leadership and communication skills, as well as technical and professional competence, and high integrity, are also required.

Interested candidates should submit their resumes to IAASBChair2009@ifac.org by Feb. 15, 2008. For further details, go to www.ifac.org/jobsatIFAC.
