BDO Boosts San Antonio Practice

Top 10 Firm BDO USA LLP has expanded its presence in San Antonio by bringing on three partners and 25 staff from Regional Leader TravisWolff.

The agreement with Dallas-based TravisWolff, which is effective immediately, gives BDO approximately 70 total staff in San Antonio, and over 300 professionals throughout Texas.

This is only the most recent of a number of expansion moves by BDO; earlier in the summer it picked up three firms and practices across the country. (See “New Mergers Help Push BDO to $800 mn.”

The three new BDO partners are Kevin Petermann, who will serve as tax managing partner for the combined San Antonio practice; Gary Hoyack, who will serve as assurance managing partner; and tax partner Janet E. Stigent-Burns.

For the moment, BDO will maintain two locations in San Antonio, but it expects to consolidate them in the near future.

“I want to welcome Kevin Petermann, Gary Hoyack, Janet Stigent-Burns and all of their staff to BDO. Their experience working with both emerging businesses and established companies makes for a natural fit with our firm," said BDO CEO Wayne Berson. “Their large, private company client base complements our existing strength in the nonprofit sector in San Antonio.”

“In joining BDO USA, we feel we’ve found a national firm with a very compatible practice philosophy and culture to our own,” said Petermann. “Our growing clients will still receive the local, hands-on service they value, but will now have access to a wider array of services, extensive industry experience and the resources of BDO’s extensive global network. Moreover, BDO's strength in the natural resources industry will enable us to compete more effectively for oil and gas business.”
