BDO taps Albert Lopez as CEO of Americas region

BDO International has appointed Albert Lopez as CEO of the Americas region, succeeding Keith Farlinger, who was previously named as CEO of the BDO firm network.

Mike Musick, assurance managing partner for BDO USA’s Nashville office, will succeed Lopez as assurance managing partner of BDO USA’s Southeast Region. BDO USA chief operating officer Stephen Ferrara will succeed Lopez as U.S. representative to the BDO Americas Board, which Lopez will chair. All the appointments take effect Jan. 1, 2018.

As Americas CEO, Lopez will be responsible for the operational oversight of the Americas region for the network, including practice management, business development market analysis, and growth of BDO member firms across the Americas.

I am confident that his contributions will grow even further as he assumes his new duties with the BDO network. I also want to congratulate Mike Musick on his promotion to Southeast assurance managing partner and Steve Ferrara on being named the U.S. representative to the Americas board. Both appointments are well deserved and recognition of their dedication to the firm.”

Lopez has been Southeast regional managing partner for assurance services at BDO USA since 2005 and previously served as the managing partner of the Assurance practice for the firm’s Miami office. He has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting and as an international consulting partner to Latin America, serving as the head of BDO USA’s Latin America/Caribbean desk for the past five years.

Musick has been Nashville managing partner for assurance services at BDO USA since 2007. He has more than 25 years of public accounting experience.

Ferrara has over 30 years of experience working in public accounting and in industry as a CFO. As COO of BDO USA, he will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s assurance and tax business lines and the development and performance of each practice office. Prior to his role as COO, he was regional managing partner of BDO USA’s Central Region.
