Becker announces 2019 scholarship recipients

Becker Professional Education announced Tuesday that 80 CPA candidates have received more than $270,000 in scholarship funds from its annual Newton D. Becker Scholarship Program.

Candidates will receive full scholarships for Becker’s CPA Exam Review course. The program has awarded $2.3 million to more than 1,000 students since its inception in 2013.

The program honors the memory of Newton D. Becker, who founded Becker Professional Education in 1957, by continuing his legacy of helping promising accounting students and professionals earn CPA licensure to better their careers.

“Everyone at Becker is passionate about preparing our candidates to pass their CPA exam, and the scholarship funds will help dozens of candidates achieve their dream,” stated Michael Malee, president of Becker Professional Education. “This scholarship program carries on Newton Becker’s legacy and enables dedicated students and professionals across the country to pursue the gold standard in the profession: the CPA credential.”

To qualify for the scholarship program, applicants must meet the requirements to sit for the CPA Exam at the time of enrollment, demonstrate financial need, and express traits important to Newton Becker in a written statement. These traits include a high moral character, leadership qualities and a commitment to community service.
