Top 100 Firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram has expanded its presence in the Nashville area by adding Rayburn Fitzgerald PC.
The deal marks CRI’s second expansion in the area since it entered the Nashville market in 2007. CRI, based in Enterprise, Ala., ranked 21st on Accounting Today’s 2016 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $195.14 million in annual revenue.
“With Nashville quickly becoming the largest city in Tennessee, it is a fitting place for CRI to focus our expansion in the state right now,” said CRI chairman and managing partner William H. Carr in a statement. “The addition of the Rayburn Fitzgerald team enables us to continue growing while strengthening our local banking practice.”
Rayburn Fitzgerald, located in the Nashville suburb of Brentwood, provides auditing, accounting, tax compliance and consulting services to individuals and businesses.
“We pride ourselves on translating our diversified experience into quality client service,” said Rayburn Fitzgerald principal John Rayburn in a statement. “By joining CRI, we can magnify this ability since our shared expertise now includes more than 200 partners. Furthermore, this capability will be delivered with the resources and specialty services of a super-regional accounting firm.”
The firm, formerly known as Rayburn Bates & Fitzgerald, was sued in 2011 by a pair of local bluegrass musicians who accused an employee of embezzling nearly $70,000 that was supposed to be used to pay taxes and other expenses to their record label, agent and other businesses, according to the Nashville Post.
