CCH Simplifies Tax Zone Identification, Filing

A partnership between Wolters Kluwer business CCH and consulting firm National Tax Credit Group LLC will allow the companies to offer online delivery of federal and state location-based incentive information.

There are federal, state, county and city incentive zones across the country, all offering a variety of credits and exemptions for income, property and sales taxes based on investment, hiring and other criteria.

According to CCH, tracking down the information can oftentimes involve a great deal of research, and the jurisdictions offering credits often don’t have the information readily available. CCH product manager Angela Darrow said that less than half of the states with tax zone incentives have detailed information on their Web sites, and even less information is available online for counties and cities.

The Tax Zone Locator provides detailed information on federal location-based tax incentives zones such as empowerment zones, renewal communities, Indian tribal land, as well as state enterprise zones for both pre-qualification and non-pre-qualification states. The locator also provides a forms and instructions library and a zone coordinator contact database.

More information on the locator is available at www.CCHGroup.com.
