E&Y RESIGNS AS A.P. PHARMA AUDITOR: Big Four firm Ernst & Young has resigned as auditor to Redwood City, Calif.-based pharmaceutical concern A.P. Pharma.A federal filing did not state a reason for E&Y's resignation, and a replacement has not been named.
Ernst & Young's reports on A.P. Pharma's financials didn't contain an adverse opinion or a disclaimer of opinion, and there were no disagreements over financial matters between the auditor and the company.
L.S. STARRETT DISMISSES DELOITTE: L.S. Starrett Co., an Athol, Mass.-based manufacturer of mechanical instruments, jettisoned its independent accountant, Big Four accounting firm Deloitte & Touche, and named Grant Thornton as its successor.
The company said that the change in auditors did not stem from any disagreements with Deloitte over accounting matters.
HURCO APPOINTS CROWE CHIZEK: Hurco Cos., a manufacturer of automated machinery, has named Crowe Chizek as its new independent accountant, replacing Big Four firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
In a federal filing, the Indianapolis-based concern said that the auditor change was not the result of any disagreement with its former auditor.
DELTA UNVEILS AUDITOR CHANGE: Bankrupt airline Delta Airlines said that Big Four firm Ernst & Young will serve as its auditor for 2006, replacing Deloitte &Touche.
The airline, which is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, said that the change will become effective after Deloitte completes the 2005 audit for the Atlanta-based company.
However, Delta must receive approval from the bankruptcy court to change auditors.
