The deal gives the Top 25 Firm's middle-market clients access to AI implementation that was mostly only available to large enterprises. Seventy-six percent of small businesses use AI, but only 14% have it fully embedded in  their core operations, according to a Goldman Sachs survey.

Rosetree is a partner of Anthropic and OpenAI, and it specializes in designing and deploying AI systems inside client businesses. It adds roughly 60 employees to the team at Citrin Cooperman Advisors.

"Everything we're doing with AI is focused on delivering more value to our clients," Citrin Cooperman Advisors CEO Alan Badey said in a statement Tuesday. "Think about a large national food distributor and a smaller regional company that do exactly the same thing. The national one can rebuild how it operates around AI because it has the resources and access to top talent. The regional distributor needs that same access and an AI plan sized to its business. Rosetree helps us provide that."

Citrin Cooperman, based in New York, ranked No. 16 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $985 million in revenue, with 480 partners and over  3,600 employees across 38 offices.

In January 2025, the firm received a significant investment from Blackstone, which acquired a majority stake in the firm from New Mountain Capital. The transaction was the first instance of an accounting firm transferring private equity ownership from one group to another in the U.S.

In July, Citrin acquired accounting and business advisory firm LGA in Boston. In May, it added Sharff, Wittmer, Kurtz, Jackson & Diaz in Miami, and in February it acquired Browne Consulting Group in Boston.

"The companies that benefit most from AI will be the ones that rethink their workflows and bring their people along, not just add new tools," David Rosenbaum, co-founder of Rosetree, who will join Citrin as applied AI practice leader, said in a statement. "For two years, every executive we met wanted to do something with AI. Now the question is where to start and how to make it stick. Every engagement leaves us with approaches we can repeat, and because our own delivery is AI-native, we can bring that to Citrin Cooperman's clients with more agility and more value from day one."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Envoy Capital Advisors served as the exclusive financial advisor and Kai Hsiung as exclusive strategic advisor to Rosetree.
