Citrin Cooperman Adds Nielsen as Partner

 

Johanna Nielsen has joined Citrin Cooperman as an audit partner in the Capital Markets and Private Equity Group in the New York City office.

Nielsen will also be a resource for the firm’s Audit Quality Control Department, working closely with engagement teams across industries.

Nielsen has more than 14 years of public accounting experience with Grant Thornton - U.S. and Grant Thornton – France, providing audit and advisory services to both publicly and privately held international companies, working most recently as Head of the U.S. Desk in Paris. In that role, she provided accounting and advisory support to subsidiaries of U.S. companies operating globally. Nielsen spent more than six years in Paris, France, assisting clients with, among other things, the application of U.S. accounting rules and regulations as well as International Financial Reporting Standards. During that time, she served as a lead audit engagement partner and an IFRS reviewing partner.

Nielsen has experience supervising Sarbanes Oxley consulting projects for multi-billion dollar international companies and has trained staff in auditing procedures throughout the world. She also specializes in software revenue recognition rules and has worked with clients across a number of industries with a focus on technology, construction, manufacturing, and distribution.

Nielsen was named one of 30 Women to Watch by Utah Business Magazine in 2010 and received the American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Woman CPA of the Year Award in 2009. Nielsen earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Utah, where she also received a Masters of Accountancy and Information Systems. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Paris. Nielsen is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Utah. She is also fluent in French.
