CohnReznick expands in Texas

Top 25 Firm CohnReznick is combining with Dallas-based BKM Sowan Horan, effective Nov. 1, 2022.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is expected to grow CohnReznick's team to 80 employees in Dallas. The firm has a number of other offices in Texas, including a team of 140 people in Austin.

BKMSH partners Rick Sowan and Mike Barber will lead the combined firms' Dallas growth strategy and client and people experiences, along with founding partners Tim Horan, Trey Kennedy and Brad Marckx.

"We looked at how we could best serve our clients' needs in the future and continue to create growth opportunities for our extraordinary talent," said Sowan. "The culture, the client-service philosophy, the investment in technology, and the strong leadership at CohnReznick will enable us to build upon our history and accomplish our vision for the future."

"The BKMSH team makes an extraordinary addition to our commitment to the robust Dallas business community," said CohnReznick CEO David Kessler in a statement. "We look forward to working with Rick, Mike, and our entire Dallas team to serve our clients and to continue the career growth for our new team members in our award-winning culture."

Allan Koltin, CEO of Koltin Consulting Group, advised both firms on the combination. "BKMSH is an exceptional firm and was courted by many national firms looking to enter the Dallas market. Finding a home with CohnReznick is a cultural and strategic fit with tremendous synergies," he said in a statement. "I wouldn't be surprised to see CohnReznick adding other high-performing firms nationally with a pedigree similar to BKMSH. CohnReznick is poised to be the profession's next billion-dollar firm, but more importantly it is one that is 'future-ready' today with great leadership and talent throughout the organization."

New York City-based CohnReznick reported $808 million in revenue in 2021, with 24 offices, 280 partners, and 3,160 total staff.
