Deloitte & Touche Names New Chairman and CEO

Gregory G. Weaver has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte & Touche LLP, the accounting, auditing and risk advisory subsidiary of Deloitte LLP.

Weaver’s appointment was ratified by the partners and principals of Deloitte & Touche and is effective immediately. He has served as lead client service partner for several of Deloitte & Touche’s largest clients and succeeds Stephen C. Van Arsdell, who has served as chairman and CEO of Deloitte & Touche since 2010.

With over 38 years of experience at Deloitte, including 27 years as a partner, Weaver has filled several leadership roles at the firm, notably as chairman and CEO of Deloitte & Touche from 2001 to 2005.

“Greg is a natural choice to lead our audit and advisory subsidiary,” said Deloitte LLP CEO Joseph Echevarria in a statement. “His prior experience in this position, in particular, gives him a deep understanding of the most critical aspects of its business and the unique role of the auditor in building trust and protecting the investing public and capital markets. Moreover, Greg's relentless focus on quality, combined with his technical expertise and unwavering integrity, has earned him the respect of his peers inside and outside Deloitte.”

Prior to being named to his new role, Weaver was a member of Deloitte LLP’s board of directors, serving on its Governance and Compensation Committees and chairing its Succession Committee.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead our audit and advisory subsidiary,” said Weaver. “I’m also proud to be part of an organization like Deloitte that is passionate and committed to leading the profession. We will lead by providing distinguished service to the investing public and capital markets through the consistent execution of quality audits, and by delivering the insights clients need to address their most complex business challenges," Weaver added. "If we do these things right—consistently—we will continue to earn the trust and respect of clients and the marketplace, alike."

Weaver holds a master's degree in business administration from Rutgers University and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Albright College. He is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.

Weaver serves on the board and executive committee of the National Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc. He is also a former member of the Stan Ross Department of Accountancy's Board at Baruch College and a former member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council.
