Barfield Murphy Shank & Smith, Birmingham, has formed a State & Local Tax Services Group, to be led by Don Murphy, Steve Smith, Karen Poist and Kim Tarnakow. The group recently hosted a series of state and local tax seminars on topics including sales tax, ad valorems, nexus, business licenses and audit preparedness.

 

JAMAICA

UHY Dawgen Chartered Accountants has joined global accountancy network UHY. The firm has two partners, 18 staff, and offices in Kingston, Mandeville, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.

 

JAPAN

BA Tokyo & Co. has joined global accountancy network UHY. The firm has eight partners, 40 staff, and offices in Tokyo, Kyoto and Okutama.

 

MARYLAND

McLean, Kohler, Sparks and Hammond, Hunt Valley, has changed the name of its organizational development and human resource practice from Tandem Partners to MKS&H People. Principal and client service director Gib Mason will oversee the alignment and the group going forward.

 

OHIO

The Wealth Center at Meaden & Moore, Cleveland, won a 3-Diamond Eagle Award from broker/dealer 1st Global for gross production over $1 million for the third year in a row. IN addition, the firm's Cindy Shadler received the Wealth Management Services Award from 1st Global for outstanding customer service, sound attention to detail and commitment to expanding her knowledge of new and highly technical 1st Global processes.
